--sunscreen purchased. Next need to do med refills and pick up pants (and wash) and I think i'll have all my stuff done for trip...besides the packing.
--also bought: smaller billfold/change purse. Not really smaller, but much much thinner. This way if I use my little itty bitty sun purse thing, I can actually fit my contact solution, container w/ excedrin, wallet, and phone in it.
--more bleach bought. B pulled filter off of vent above tub in case it would make a difference --- noise is still sure the same, so I doubt it. Letter will be written and given sometime this week.
--gods, cleaning. packing without cleaning is pretty much undoable at this time practically...not to mention the depression of coming back to this messy place. While I'm at it, might as well drag out the paper shredder and go to town. Would be one little thing off my mind while I'm away in case anyone lets themselves into my place.
--Super ex-girlfriend: about what you would expect. I pretty much made it through the movie by analyzing the m/f dynamic throughout it....was interesting. B cringed in the seat next to me because it reminded him too much of real life minus the super powers and the shark. He has actually had a gf tell him that he couldn't break up w/ him and then had gf's mother call him to tell him the same thing. Scary when I am the sanest person he's ever dated.
--My hip didn't hurt at all today!! It's been less all week w/ the new shoes and insoles, but the twinges were still there on walk to work. I think it just took my legs this long to "remember" how to walk right and the inflammation to go down. Yes, I'm high maintenance -- my knees and hips pretty much demand new shoes every 4-5 months. I can only imagine what it would be like if I actually wore dress shoes a lot. If you see me in heels, it's pretty much assured it's either a wedding or a funeral. And I feel the effects for days in muscles and joints. I don't know how the rest of the female race does it, but I'm too much of a wimp to suffer for beauty. Sorry, guys.

-- and another heat wave started this weekend. *dances* I know, I'm messed up. But really, if there's going to be humidity around, the weather can at least have the decency to be above 90 so the sweat evaporates. And I really do actually like it that hot. I know, I'm wierd. But at least I'll have had a REAL summer before this winter so maybe I won't complain as much.

Saw this article in the Baltimore Sun today and it almost made me cry. Sentinels under attack - It's about the effect of a toxic algae on sea lions and the history of it's increased growth due to fertilizer run off. Just heartbreaking.

For those that are interested, they are doing a five part series Altered Oceans.

soo...umm...I probably should have been more adventurous w/ the sunscreen this morning. I'm always nervous about any new lotion-y product, but especially sunscreen since there's so many wierd ass words that I have no clue what they are derived from (plus, worries about exactly what gave me hives one summer). So put the sunscreen on just my arms with the thought that at least there I could a) easily wash off at work if it gave me a problem and b) easily reach it with hydrocortisone if I did react.

No reaction to sunscreen.

Huge bright sunburn on my shoulders from my extra time in the sun on my run to CVS. Not itchy yet - hopefully that will hold off for the hour or more of work that I have to do before I head home to my aloe.

So yeah, my arms will be striped -- heavily tanned forearms from my farmer tan look, lightly tanned tops of shoulders from my occassional walks in sleeveless shirts, and WHITE biceps. Siiigh. Not quite as white as my legs and back, but well, hopefully I don't blind anyone in california.

so I know lurid and I talked once about all the good antioxidants but how hard it was to make oneself eat that many fruits and such..

Saw this at gnc when I was getting my dairy digestant pills: Maximum Fruits Complete. It is apparently corn free (yay -- at least, nothing on the label and I had about a half serving this morning w/out any problem) and proclaims to give you More Antioxidant Capacity than 7 Standard Servings of Fresh Fruits**....no actual vitamins are listed though since it is mostly powdered extracts of fruit, but it's something especially since I know how bad I am at fruit in the winter. It actually doesn't taste yucky...not quite like fruit punch, but it's tolerable to drink in cold water.

They do have a Maximum Greens formula that does contain vitamins in it (and not at the outrageous superdoses that normal vitamin pills give you which I'd appreciate since a lot of studies are starting to show that too much of most vitamins is a bad thing too)....sadly, that one has maltodextrin in it. *pouts* Oh well, can't have everything.

Anyways, thought this might be of interest to some of ya. I can't claim that it makes me feel any different yet, but given I would like to do what I can to stave off the possibility of alzheimers from my grandmother...it can't hurt.

Oh, and lurid, I found the thing I said I'd heard about on the TV w/ regards to blueberry extract: vitaberry

If the ocean articles didn't depress you enough, the Amazon rain forest is entering it's second year of drought.

Post summarizes and links to a more extensive article about the ramifications this has for global warming.
