well, it's official. The high temp drops below 65 and the management turns the heat on. Gorram idiots. Granted, it is actually supposed to drop to a semblance of cold this weekend, but still. *pants*

Also, this work in the place above me is VERY ANNOYING. It sounds as if the contractor is pulling up every nail used to put down the carpet padding or something. Auuugh.

and i'm very sore from my small leg workout yesterday proving exactly how badly out of shape I am.

Case in Point;

I just put shaving cream in my hair during my shower....and no, it wasn't anywhere near the shampoo and I'd already shampooed.

Sooooo close. Almost done. Can't wait.

Course, as soon as it is done, the muse will probably plead exhaustion with my brain and disappear. You know it.

Well, presentation is all spiffed up. Now hurriedly cramming articles into my brain while pointedly trying not to dwell on the pieces I don't think I know well enough. I always have a wonderful habit of dreaming up the questions that specifically address the holes in my knowledge....one of the problems w/ this is that the committee I gave myslef actually ends up articulating ALL of these questions sometimes. Siiiigh. *crosses fingers that boss is right that this will all be fine*

Of course, the library isn't helping me either. Normally it's not big deal to get into the science journals online from home, you just have to enter your school id and password into a proxy server and bam....except ever since last week, it hasn't. On the off chance that it was just something screwy w/ IE, I tried it w/ Opera, and PRESTO. It works. If I can ever figure out how to force the newest version of Opera to open every time to my home page instead of the last page visited, I'm soo switching on a permanent basis. Ah well.

*hugs the supporting flist*

The good news if everything goes well tomorrow, I'll still have a) a job and b) a shot at a phd. if it doesn't, I'll still probably have the job through however long it takes me to do a masters write up.

Of course, if everything goes well, we get to do this in 6 months again as I hound the committee to ask what else I'll have to do then to graduate (assuming that I have at least one paper published and almost ready to go on the second). Boss thinks that w/ as many publications as I have as a secondary author (assuming old lab ever WRITES and PUBLISHES the paper I'm supposed to be secondary on), that they'll only require one. I keep telling her good luck w/ that.

Moral of the story: never pick your thesis committee w/ the idea that they'll fill in the knowledge holes of your advisor. Your thesis committee on the grad school level in the sciences only ever impedes you, rarely actually helps you. Much better that they just be friends w/ your advisor. Of course, w/ old boss, he was such a freak that I'm not sure he had any friends in the school since so few people knew who the hell he was till the blow up w/ me back in april.

Siiiiiigh:)

On a nonwork note, got my glasses adjusted finally...the guy was very impressed at how crooked they were. Tried to explain that that had been on purpose last year because I'd had so much trouble w/ that spot on my head that I'd refused to let them adjust that earpiece when they did the adjustments last. Hopefully when I wear the rest of the week, they won't annoy that spot. And I'll be able to drop off my spare glasses to get tinted lenses for driving in them and get them back before retreat/weekend of insane travel (promise [livejournal.com profile] docmichelle, after tomorrow, I'll firm up all plans finally). going to drop them off sometime this week even though my eye appt for the contact lens prescrip isn't till monday.

Okay, time to stop procrastinating and go read the papers. Like the bunny icon says, right:)

well, crap.

I'm stuck in the crappy laundry room because EVERY machine in the basement is taken up...and there's more machines down there. And they are all just sitting there, full and wet. And done. I could have taken the clothes out, which I don't have a problem doing, but w/ that many, I'd never get a dryer if they all came at once. So, went upstairs.

But, it's a good thing I left the apartment to do so. One door on the entire floor had a white notice sheet sticking uder their door. I saw the word water, so I pulled it out to get the full thing, and it looks like the water is being shut off tomorrow morning. Maybe it will just affect that apartment, but ummm., yeah w/ these Einsteins? I'm not pushing my luck. So, have to be up at 8 am at the latest, immediately get ready and everything. :P:P:P Annoying. So hopefully, I'll get to bed before midnight. Ugggghhhh.

Hopefully none of these things is an omen.
