Found a Peanut by [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda in response to the prompt I gave her when she was asking for ficlet challenges.

Farscape, set after Won't Get Fooled Again. And, very graphic and gross. But incredibly well written. She really puts you inside John's head.

Came home last night, plopped in front of the TV (with two pieces of apple pie that didnt' give me a headache) and watched a bit of Everwood before leaving in favor of CSI. I love CSI when they focus on Nick. He's just sooo watchable. CSI spoilers ) Then a very meh ER. I'm very upset again at how they refuse to leave the Croatian doctor alone. I swear they are trying to drive him to suicide.

After taht....I umm....fell asleep on the futon. Very hard asleep on the futon. Woke up a couple of times due to the cold (have a lovely draft from the a/c that is imperative to keeping my place at a livable temp in the winter), but promptly fell back asleep. I even woke up at 6 am, had the presence of mind to hurriedly wash my face and gargle some listerine before grabbing the alarm clock and setting it for 7ish. And um...then I hit snooze till i just turned it off because umm..the cold:) Actually, not sure why except that was the deepest damn sleep I'd had in a long time and I was having interesting dreams (though I can't begin to tell you what they were about now). Moral of the story--I finally dragged my ass up around 9, at which point I had to do dishes before I could make breakfast.

And um..I need to start eating more like a grownup. Till I manage it though, I'll keep risking the dangerous oatmeal when I need the fiber. *shrugs*

Not much else to say, I found the library wonderfully productive yesterday. I've all but concluded that I'll have to give up the one theory I had for a mechanism which had me all worried that I'd have to look into mRNA stability till I reminded myself on the way home yesterday that wait, I've already SEEN a difference in the chromatin modification between the two treatments. So it is happening, it's just not happening via the known major transcriptional mediator of either pathway. Which was a very important realization to come to. :) So I think I can actually begin to write stuff now. Hopefully. And I'm talking about thesis stuff not fanfic. Sorry guys.

I do have to tear my apartment apart this weekend to look for the missing 58 dollar ticket stub from amtrack since the secretary of the training grant emailed me back to say that "we can try, but sometimes they won't take it". Which the secretary is a nice woman so I'm trying not to get too pissed off at her. It's just, look, I have one of the stubs, I just don't have both. So one stub plus computer print out of order to me equals that you took the train both ways. Even if you didn't, you paid for it. Cause when you get the tickets, you get both and they charge you for both. Oh well, we'll see if I can track it down.

And god, do I need to get some boots. Looks like I should just cave in and get some that I don't really care for cause winter is setting in now. I'd gotten complacent there for a bit thinking we'd have a southern onset in novemberish, but the weather seems to have suddenly remembered that hey, it's october and this is the northeast. Time to get cold!

Anyway, that's the update for me. And man, forgot how fast the flist builds up when I don't look at it all day at work. Need to start doing that more often. *borrows some willpower from [livejournal.com profile] _eb*

Okay, bored with waiting and stuff, so I thought I'd go ahead and tackle this for [livejournal.com profile] blond_bear. This list is alphabetical mostly and comes from those that I recognized from Glow archive. All links are to the Glow archive and I promise nothing about it containing all their works (god knows I haven't updated anything on Glow in forever for myself). I'll try to at some point start going through Fireflyfans to see if I recognize anyone other than Guildsister that is exclusive to there. If you visit my profile on fanfiction.net, you should see my favorite authors flagged in my profile.

This list isn't comprehensive. I haven't been reading a lot of the new writers lately because I know I'll have to read them eventually when the strawberries is done again. So sue me:P Basically a historical list of some of the best writers in the fandom from Glow up to say mid-2004 when I stopped avoiding life by reading fanfic obsessively. Some won Strawberries, some didn't.

Anyway, on to the list. Under the cut for non-firefly fans on my flist --

Man, I did something to my turkey loaf. Not inedible, but not great. Too much sage I think.

Anyways, I figured I'd tackle LJ next cause it's easiest;) No cutting and pasting of links since if I read something I liked, odds are I'ved stalked friended you by now. Again, lots of disclaimers here--this isn't a comprehensive list, but mostly what I've accumulated now. I stopped reading a lot of newbie fic back at the beginning of the year due to burnout from judging for the strawberries, and well, now that I'm not avoiding work by reading fanfic 24/7, I just haven't started up again. Besides, I'm sure I'll be wading through a lot of it when do the strawberries next year (january-ish). Some may be repeated from what I did from Glow, but well, I know a lot of us that have made the LJ migration have become lazy about doing updates;)

Umm, also, if you haven't written in a longish time and I accidently left you off, drop me a line. Also, if I ran across you during my Farscape searches and you also write Firefly, I might have left you off if I didn't notice the firefly fic in your memories.

Another great place to find good recs is [livejournal.com profile] fireflyfanfic. I've made several since [livejournal.com profile] lostillusion722 started it up.

LJ cut for non-firefly fans )

That's it, don't think I left anyone off. There are of course, many more talented authors on lj as well. Another great place to look is back in the early days of [livejournal.com profile] ff_friday.
