Not much else to say. Oh, Veronica Mars was good tonite. Won't say any spoilers other than I was very entertained and the plot wasn't too predictable. The last couple of weeks I hadn't enjoyed it, but I hadn't enjoyed pretty much anything I'd watched so I'm guess that was my own frame of mind

Oh, and Team America. It's amusing on a very Southpark level. Guess the biggest supriser of it is that it is no more anti-bush than it is pro-bush. More like just anti-idiocy. So tell all your republican friends that they can see it w/out going to hell;) LOL

Okay, that's all...I've really gotta get to bed now....Just had to post another post thanking CassieE and acknowledging her hard work on my layout coding and the Picture design:) Oh, and the new saffron icon is by her as well....can you tell she's a tad impatient on my YoSaff story?

Odd ideas and Ranting

Hmm...was on fireflyfans.net and saw the jon stewart on crossfire thread for the umpteenth time. Had a really odd image, okay actually now images, appear in my head as ways to promote Serenity when the day comes. First, Adam Baldwin and Joss appear separately on the Daily Show. Second, since they are polar opposites in political views, Adam and Joss appear together on Crossfire. Heck, these ideas are practically spawning fanfic parody ideas in my head.

*shakes head to clear it*

Okay, actually needed that. Had complete shit day at work. See, finally threw in the towel and concluded that the major focus of my thesis project just wasn't working and I don't have the time to make it work. Told my boss so. Of course, then comes question of, Okay well what now? Had answer for that and everything---Continue my two side projects and take on another project from another grad student (this student has like 4 or 5 avenues to research on this one gene and had agreed). New project is practically guaranteed from the current literature on the topic and relatively easy beginning experiments. Does my boss agree and nod and generally be sane and intelligent? Oh no! Not him.

Instead that is declared "too risky" cause there isn't any preliminary data. Now just fyi, but if we got anything other than the results we expect, we'd have like a Science or Nature paper on our hands. No instead, I'm supposed to take another set of genes and go fishing to see if there is differences in the knockout. Which would be fine and good except that a) the fishing takes time and then will take a lot of time to figure out which to pursue and mechnisms. b) the topic I'm supposed to take is an incredibly hot field and I stand a really strong chance of being scooped. So basically, I was told w/ no options to take on a highly risky and low yield project for the rest of my thesis when I don't have a single gorram first author paper. Auuuggh. I want to kill my incredibly stupid poorly read advisor most fo the time. Hence why I try to avoid speaking to him as much as possible...which isn't hard since I make him uncomfortable especially since I said there was no way in hell I'd stay in academics.

Oh well....will see what I can do w/ his piece of gose idea while still helping the other grad student get all the prelim data...at which point I'll tell him to shove his project and do what I want to anyway.

So, have I said recently how much I hate grad school and research?

wallowing

Yeah, so I wallowed all night. Didn't accomplish anything other than printing out something I need to edit. And I didn't even do any editing:P Laundry put off till morning when I must do it....well that or look like a complete nutjob in REALLY wrinkled khakis....which would be fine if I didn't work in a lab bay w/ the two neat freak men that wear everything all pressed and crisp. Okay fine, on my ex (who yes I work w/) it looks great. *drool* Sorry, but he's gotten into mega shape and I ain't dead yet. Ah well, we'll see how I feel in the morning. And still have to cook two meals for tomorrow (and really eat some dinner too).

Ah well....I do feel a bit refreshed. Watched Trash....one of my top favorite episodes, but then I think I say that after almost every episode except for The Message. Tracey just annoys the hell out of me so much I can't even appreciate evil Richard Burghi. But I digress, Trash. :) After the umpteenth time of viewing, I've finally gotten beyond staring at Mal's ass enough that I can actually see the plot layers and themes...well sorta beyond the obvious. Okay, well maybe subconsciously I saw them when I started my YoSaff story and forgot, but it hit me over the head today how the entire show is about "performances". Mal and crew performing for YoSaff, YoSaff performing for Durren and vice versa possibly, Simon finally figurin out that Jayne's been performing for days/weeks since Ariel, Simon and River's performance for Jayne...Oh and dare I forget Saff's multiple performances for Mal?

Really, Ben Edlund is like one of the greatest writers. Loved the Tick when I finally saw all the shows on DVD. Love and laugh my ass off at The Venture Brothers every week! (friend tapes them for me since I don't have cable). I swear, all those writers have to know a lot of scientists as well as nerds! I mean, the scene of the Monarch trying to figure out how to operate his computer to give a presentation to Overbite!? So true!!! You'd think someone who is allowed to work with radiation and dangerous chemicals could figure out how to use a projector after the 10th or 12th time they use it....nope! Seriously, gonna have to go and get a video rental card (Hollywood videos mysteriously closed down near me) or Netflix or something so I can watch Titan:AE.

Okay, fangirl signing off now:) LOL Trash cheered me up then watched an actually decent show of Lost. Sorry, so haven't been into this series. Started off okay but lagged badly and I didn't think it was tight enough. Skipped it last week. Dunno if that was why I enjoyed tonite's show since I had to actually struggle to figure out what was going on or what. Dunno if it's just JJ Abrams or what. Never got into Alias either. Ah well. Then watched Kevin Hill...Christina Hendricks finally recieved a large role in tonite's show. Although, ( spoiler for tonite's show )

So yeah, feeling better but a tad annoyed that I didn't get anything done. Sigh. Ah well. Enough blabbing about stuff that bores everyone I'm sure:P LOL
