So, whatever it is — Vitamin D levels normal again, magnesium supplements, or the wonder drug xyzal, my corn food allergy has been MUCH less the past year. Now, not enough so that i’m Eating fast food all the time, and I have managed to fuck myself up once (never ever eat fries in Arizona - they are always fried in same oil the corn chips are), but I’ve had very few minor reactions to eating out a lot though still eating out higher end. And I mean compared to my used to frequent “allergy fever / cold” that some hotel burgers/food would do.
All of that is to say, I got really lazy in 2019 on cooking, especially as I found several new frozen foods at Whole Foods and wegman’s that I can eat. For some reason, Amy’s pizzas and Mac&cheese isn’t causing my face to break out horribly anymore (and annatto isn’t causing frequent migraines), there’s one flavor of Evol frozen dinners that is without corn (one, all the others have it in ‘em), and a Greek place opened up by wegman’s and by one of the whole food’s.
The one by Whole Food’s, Cava, is really good and seems to give me minimal issues. (Not as great as the fast food one down in DC from last fall’s convention trip for work, but good). The other one - Eons - is okay. But really, the novelty of being able to drop in and pick up food without driving 30 minutes out of my way? I may have overdone it. Cause the week that I had about 4 meals there, i was also having massive allergy attacks - granted they were painting in the office which I put it off to as i took about 3 Benadryl a day (on top of the xyzal). But I cooked last week and didn’t eat there until Friday night. And within 2 hours, massive sinus congestion, weird full/clogged throat feeling (not like it was closed, but like all my LN were swollen when they weren’t really).
So yeah, I think my body is saying to knock it the hell off and go back to clean eating again. Which I should pay attention since I’ve got a week long work convention to go to pretty much every other week for the next 3 mos.
On the other hand, i found a new beef jerky I really like. granted, I like slant shack that I had been eating but it could sometimes be really dry. The New Primal is the new brand and i hope it is consistent cause this first set of boxes I ordered is excellent. Nice to have backup food other than just Rx bars for the upcoming travel (since 1 of the meetings is in Florida, and the other in Anaheim, making taking a lot of food more problematic since I have stopped trusting hotel refrigerators to not completely freeze any cold food i bring).
