Here from network, and that sounds slightly similar to what I dealt with with my computer this past week. My Windows Update wasn't working correctly, my Windows kept not-responding, and my computer kept getting a little pissy at me. My system restore wasn't working because it kept swearing that Windows files weren't where they should have been.
Turns out that a DLL issue had caused my user profile to become set to both HomeUsers and Admin; it can only be set to one thing, and it had pretty successfully borked itself trying to figure out what to do.
Unfortunately, I had to have a professional fix my computer. It took 2 hours, admittedly, but. Still had to ask the nice people at answerslive to fix it, and fork over 99 bucks for the privilege.
