Bad, bad ER writers and my to do list

Bad, bad ER writers...Horrible evil ER directors...every time I'm about to give this show up you come along and give me an episode like tonite that makes me fall a tad bit back in love with it. Of course, I tell myself it's not really weakness, but rather nostalgia combined with the occassional gem of a show. Tonite's really was good. And the acting was so great by the guest stars. The little boy gang banger was dead on. It was so sad to see him talking about not knowing what his tatoo meant and how his brother didn't want him to get it. Gorrammit...now I'm gonna want to watch another couple episodes this season. Hopefully they'll go back to their predictable and sappy writing. At least on ER though I don't laugh my ass off at how they use pippettes. Watch CSI NY...and that hispanic hot chick they have (whom I suspect is the same one who refused to visit a coroner office for research for the part) was doing a test. And it was just so hilarious to watch her oh so carefully put tips on her pipette and then her hand shake as she tried to squirt the liquid in the tube. Dude....if a forensic tech had that type of technique they would soo be fired. That's only acceptable for freshman bio students who have never seen a pipette before in RL.
Okay, enough TV talk....my to do list:
1) Camouflage....am so pushing back the planned xmen/firefly crossover for this. I want to get this story finished gorramit. And I'm starting to suspect that my planned outline for the xmen/firefly crossover was waay too angsty. We'll see.
2) At least one chapter of Susanna's story by or shortly after Valentine's day. Which will probably be the point at which I attempt to cut myself off from fandom in order to attempt to prepare for thesis committee meeting.
3) Pick a quote for my lj layout before
cassiee bumps me down in line.
4) attend to RL stuff.
5) pariticipate in one more of
the_official's challenges between now and valentine's day. dunno if it's gonna happen this time.
I think that's about it. I'll add more later if I think of it. And obviously, in no particular order so calm down
cassiee.

Date: 2005-01-13 08:39 pm (UTC)Angsty is good. We can do angst. *nods*
I wasn't sure if I answered your question in the email the other night--was that what you were looking for?
And I like how RL is number 4 on the list. :) Even if it is in no particular order.

Date: 2005-01-13 08:44 pm (UTC)There is no such thing as 'waay too angsty', there is only the angsty place you haven't yet gone :P

Date: 2005-01-13 08:46 pm (UTC)And yes...you answered question and made me think some. I know angsty is good...but it's also all I do. Your comedic approaches have some appeal and I want to think on what I want to do on it. Not to mention finish the story I'm working on instead of jumping around like I have in the past...it seemed to work well on Preacher's prayer and Those left behind..not so much since considering the multiple WIP I have lingering on my hard drive. Must transfer thoughts to computer rather than just playing w/ them in my head on the way to work....plus that's a little hazardous to my health at cross walks:)

Date: 2005-01-13 08:48 pm (UTC)Muses...such fickle and jealous animals. If plots are bunnies, what animal are muses? Other than male obviously??

Date: 2005-01-13 08:54 pm (UTC)And I have comedic approaches. *feels like real writer*
I'm actually starting to think that I have a talent for comdedy, because the funny ones do get better response more often than not. They're fun, but it's hard too sometimes. Especially if you're trying to be witty. (Oh woe is trying to write Cordelia snark.) I'm trying to take a both funny and serious approach to the original story I'm working on now. I'm not far enough in to tell if it's going to work.
Wow. This is sort of what it's like when I'm drunk. I just get started talking and go and go and go like an energizer bunny.
Please don't get run over in the cross walks. You need your very own Blair Sandburg to watch out for zone-outs. :)

Date: 2005-01-13 09:00 pm (UTC)And comedy is oh so much harder to do than angst. Especially in words alone..I mean on shows, so much of the comedic aspect comes from expressions and delivery. Carrying that off across a page, oh so frigging hard. Which is why I hate wash even if I do manage to write him decently well. Funny, I can understand the written sarcasm, but I so never get it over the phone. In RL, I must see a speaker's face to get sarcasm and then I still have trouble out here on the east coast when I get a completely flat delivery of it. Brian despairs of ever teaching me to recognize it I think:)
And yes, me too on the drunk part. Typing through sinus headaches can do that. And is it really too much to ask for the weather to stay the same? As much as I was asking for sun, from 40 to 60 and back to 40 in a three day period is so not a friend to my sinuses. thank goodness for excedrin.

Date: 2005-01-14 07:28 am (UTC)Hahaha! I always saw the muse as the character. Case in point, my Creepy!Simon muse.
But it would be more fun if they were an animal...something ridiculous and unpreditable like the muses themselves. Like a salamander or something.
