Endnote and MS word are NOT playing well together. I have CODE code code all through my paper.

eta...oh crap, this doesn't even seem to be a compatibility issue w/ different word versions because a paper i haven't worked on in ages is having it to.

eta2: I love Manchester Metropolitan University Library. I may be forced to donate money to them. Turns out my computer decided to check the "show field codes" on every document I own for some odd reason. I'm betting that the stupid frelling ms security updates are to blame.

I'm sure that about a tenth of my hair just went white from the last ten minutes of utter and complete fright as I contemplated the horror of reformatting my harddrive, reinstalling programs, rebuilding endnote libaries, and praying I have everything backed up.

Guess what I'll be doing in the VERY near future.

well, i don't think that endnote is compatible with many other word processing programs and it is wonderful in saving me papercuts as I do bibliographies.

but obviously a quick back up of everything is definitely called for before I start actually writing the diss. Just in case Dean-o gets any ideas about repeating the bad behavior of it's predecessor hard drive.

Ahh, that's sweet. I do have a cd-rw drive though, so cd's aren't that big of an issue to back my stuff up on....I'm just lazy at doing it. My data itself is backed up on about three computers, I was just freaking out because I was convinced I might have infected all three w/ a virus via my jumpdrive perhaps.

At least I didn't call at 8 am in the morning begging you and mike to help me fix it via phone :)
