Heeeeeeeeee!!! Finally managed to assimilate the papers I need to handwave enough to explain some "inconsistencies" in my data.

Heeeeeeeeee!!! Okay, now I can write this paper without the big lump in my stomach that felt like I was overinterpretting or trying to force the data to fit my model.

Just remember that all inconsistencies can be explained by one thing, the old stand-by, "HUMAN ERROR"!

"fault" is such an ugly word! You can never truly reduce human error to zero; we will always influence the experiment in some way, and maybe it was human error on the part of the people writing all those other articles!?
