It's no big deal, at least it wasn't for me. It's very much like having a C/T scan. The patient will probably need an IV to get the radioactive contrast inserted into the body, but other than that, it's just a matter of lying still for a few minutes. There's no pain at all. I could give more details, but it's really rather minor and dull.
that the prep is worse than the scan. That they have to lie absolutely still after receiving the radiodye injection/drink for about 45 minutes. The stiller they sit, the better the scan. The scan itself takes almost no time at all. It is just really really boring.

And yeah, the still part is going to be difficult since this is my paranoid grandmother. Hopefully my dad can force the valium down her before hand.
