The Unit.....
Okay, I'm going to indulge in some fandom while I wait for my hotdog buns to rise (get your mind out of the gutter!) -
The Unit, I'm so not loving the current season, but man oh man, they do occassionally manage a good episode here and there.
Okay, everyone knows I had not much love of the "homefront" scenes for the most part --- they were strongest when actually presenting the problems of basewives, especially those in covert ops, but generally became a little preachy. Still, CAN I HAVE THOSE BACK AND AN ABANDOMENT OF THIS WIVES DOING COVERT OPS CRAP???
Seriously, if I hadn't already disliked the character of Kim simply from the fact that Amy Acker was fired from the role (well not fired, but not a fit), this season would make me LOATHE her. Tiffy I've frequently disliked but at least her character has mostly been constant. The entire homefront in covert ops sucks.
As for the boys, omg, did the show jump a shark when Hector died or what? I just can't seem to really like the whole chemistry with him gone. And as much as I hated the story line of Betty Blue falling for Hector's girl, why have we not even had an acknowledgement of that past fling when he's suddenly fallen in love with this new airplane heiress girl (mary sue much????? -- I bet we see her in one of the ops soon)
I'm also over colonel ryan's evil overlord ex-wife. The flashbacks in the last episode to his childhood were so poorly done in comparison to those we've seen for Top. Just guh.
Still, occassionally, the op side of the story still grabs me and keeps me watching the show. I liked the ep where they were playing poker for an op (though I missed large parts due to vcr hiccup --- really did not like having the show on sunday nights where football frakked with the schedule). The initial start to the season w/ the assasinations was good and I did like addition of Red Cap to the team. But I thought her "rescue" from exile w/ the lifting of the court martial was a little too pat. Also, loved the visuals of the spear of god episode, but what whack for a supposed mission.
In summary, I don't think I'll ever be able to write fanfic for the post-hector days.

I've *just* got s1 of The Unit through from Movieshack (one of our Netflix equivalents down here in NZ), and I was wondering who else on my flist would already have watched it.
