Whoooooo, boy. One thing after another today blew my plan for the day and ensures that I have to work at least four hours tomorrow...and I've still not had a second to look through any articles.
Of course, things can alway be worse as proved by the phone conversation I had w/ my mother after 8 hours of work (and without dinner yet, I might add) in which I was interrogated about the new intel macs ad nauseum.
Fifteen minutes were spent trying to explain to her that NO, Macs aren't immune to viruses despite the misleading ad campaign on tv currently.
Twenty minutes spent telling her that if they want to get a mac, they'll need to a) go to mac store and try it out to see if they like it, and b) make sure they buy a mac that already has ms xp running on it because I've been reading that it's not a simple process to get xp to load over os x, and c) determine if their ms word and ms office that they bought for a pc will run on a mac running xp or not.
Another ten minutes explaining the difference in working on microsoft applications on an OLD mac versus the new macs ..
At which point I waved the white flag and explained that if she didn't want screaming to commence, we really needed to have this conversation another time.
*rubs head some more*

Date: 2006-05-06 09:01 pm (UTC)You can(should) tell her that Macs are Satan's play ground. Seriously. She can get a good(great) Dell system a half the cost. And the whole problem with cross platform, with other programs is just a mess. I wouldn't buy a Mac if they gave me the money for it.
:stupid misleading ad campaign: Immune my foot.

Date: 2006-05-07 07:00 am (UTC)but as usual, what do I know. *rolls eyes* Plus, this is a windows 2000 machine that they then had to do a bunch of stuff to to get it to use xp. so of course it's not happy or running "fast".
