Why is Microsoft backing HD-DVD?

Very interesting article that finally clearly explained the differences between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Basically, movie studios are jumping behind Blu-Ray because consumers WON'T be able to make copies until and if someone breaks the codec. Secondly, Blu-Ray discs will probably not be very compatible w/ current generation dvd players.

So yeah, I think I'm officially on the HD-DVD bandwagon. And who knew that Microsoft would choose the thing that would benefit consumers?
