science writing = wincing

You know, the qualities that make scientific writing what it is is now becoming painful for me. Looong sentences with lots of little explanatory set off clauses plus all the passive voice....yeaugghh. My skin is crawling from it. Not so bad when it's because I'm describing results or something, but the set ups for abstracts is just...well...painful. Granted, I can knock it out in less than an hour if I'm focused, but still.

It does not make my muse a happy camper.
