(no subject)

I'm annoyed....UPN ended up running America's Top Model out of it's time slot, but didn't go ahead and air VM last night. Sigh, they better do the weekend repeat of it or I'll have to go kill a basketball team.

[livejournal.com profile] uncharted_elves is launched. From this point on, I take no responsibility for the results. ;) It's all on the elves.

Oh, [livejournal.com profile] docmichelle --- I'm sooo glad we went to Lidia's. I made pasta last night w/ turkey meat sauce and I used one of the jars I bought there (the other still being in OK because damn, those things are heavy in your carry on) and OMG!!!!!! First time I've made pasta since the whole "no more ragu because of corn" debacle, and it actually tasted like what you'd get in a decent restaurant instead of being too sour, or something. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! So good. *dances you*

Sadly, it appears I need to strictly control how much of the cocoa hazelnut butter I eat though -- last night was first time in a acoupel of days that i didn't wake up at some point with a severe stomach cramp. That's been all, but I'm guess 3-5 spoonfulls a night is a bit much or something. *pouts* Course, I know, I don't need 3-5 spoonfulls of 250 calories every night anyways.

Okay, time to quit doing everything fandom demands of me and go join real life again today:P:P

eta....errr woops. spoke too soon. just got the first nosebleed of the winter.

epiphanies

You know, I suddenly realized why my trips home have been so painful since my mom's been sick. I mean, I know she's like me in that she doesn't like to need help and gets very grumpy when people hover/worry. But beyond getting that from her, I got my dad's habit of getting stressed/angry when there isn't anything I can do to help someone I care about.

It all just ends up equally huge raises in stress levels. Which, now that it's over and I know I at least helped in visiting, explains why I feel sooo much better.

On another note, MY FEET ARE SWELTERING. This is why I NEVER bought gortex boots before. Everyone always said I should for warmth and stuff, but I'd remembered the stories from a friend who went to Belize in high school of how HOT the shoes are. But I let everyone convince me that no, in the intervening 10 years, gortex had been made to be breathable.

These things aren't breathable. Not at all. Or at least not for someone who the quickest way to make her cranky is to make her feet hot. Seriously, I would throw temper tantrums as a child if you didn't let me take my shoes off when I felt I needed to. Me and several elementary school teachers went round and round about that till I generally won (a high pitched scream does come in handy sometimes).

Add to that the blister I'm getting on the outside of one ankle, and I'm definitely going to get my beater shoes out of the locker. Especially since I know I'll need to wear these again tomorrow:P:P

That banged it

So...figured I should do a virus scan after the problems earlier this week and all (plus, hadn't run one since midlast month since I can't figure out how to set the weekly scans on the new norton). Guess what happened? System slowed down, microsoft word froze midsentence, and all manners of evil. ctrl+alt+delete took ten minutes to pull anything up and when I did, there were like 50 of the ctrl+alt+delete windows running supposedly (I hit it three times, that's all!).

Finally managed to force a shutdown despite my screen losing it's start button and all.

Guess what I just finished doing? Finding the hidden customer service page and submitting a request for a refund (I thought the deadline was thirty days, but I'm overjoyed to find it to be 60. Not quite squeaking under the line like I thought).

So, my "letter of destruction" (I kid you not!!!) should arrive soon, I'll uninstall this evil thing and then install zonealarm. Must remember to go searching for shareware virus protection as well. (tech people: are viruses email only? I mean, I know trojans can find computers over the net, but do viruses work the same way? If I just never click on an infected email, do I really need an antivirus program?)

Seriously, almost the worst performing computer protection software ever. Which I'd been very happy with norton's previous incarnation...but this new one, whew boy. It coulda used some extra beta time. McAfee is still more annoying, but auugh.

So yeah, if you don't see me online much tonight it's because I'm offline as I do firewall installs and such.

ETA -- forget the Q --> I got the zonealarm antivirus as well. :):P Thanks.
